{Button, Button, who's got a button}

I have A LOT of buttons and I just found this tutorial over at EverythingEtsy.com for this cute bracelet.

It looks pretty easy for my limited skill set so I think I'm gonna try it with white or black buttons...
and maybe a colorful one for Brookie...

{Year End wrap-up ..OR.. I'm tired of playing catch-up!..OR..Totally Random stuff}

She say's she wants to be a wrestler when she's a big girl!

*another way I justify taking my iphone to church*
I am the assistant ward organist at church now and I haven't really played the organ for about 20 years so I take pictures of the settings I think sound right cuz I don't know how the memory buttons work and I don't play every week and I forget :)

~
No Pictures, but we had a fun family Thanksgiving with Jim's brother-in-law's family.
We had way too much Thanksgiving dinner though!
I think we will have a different meat this year....I'm still kind of sick of turkey.

~

For my birthday I got fancy cupcakes, which I LOVE, which seem to be the trend right now.
Cupcake/Bake shops popping up all along the Wasatch Front.

These were from the Sweet Tooth Fairy in Provo. YUMMY!

~

No pictures from Christmas but let's just say, the kids got everything they wanted and more and at this moment they are all basically grounded from all their gifts or could care less about stuff that was the most important thing a month ago. We spent just a little more than we had budgeted so that is progress, but I always feel the desire to return everything around the middle of January :) *Note to self!!! Less IS More!!!!!

~

The day after Christmas I drove the kids out to Cali to visit the farm and the fam. It was cooold out there! but no snow!! That's important :) It was a fun trip but I think I've had my fill of California for a little while again.

~

Finally!!! Happy NEW Year!!!

Next up! 2010!

Spreadin' the Luv

Here's a fun blog game courtesy of Jenny!

The first 3 people to respond to this post will get something made by me.
My choice. Made especially for you.

Restrictions and Limitations:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It will be done this year.
4. You have no clue what it's going to be, because I don't even know what it's going to be!
5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The Catch:
You must re-post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 3 people who comment on your post and agree to do the same!
So get ready for your mystery treat but be prepared to share the love!

Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you get when you get it.

My NEW favorite color

true to my word, I painted the broken mirror frame my new favorite accent color.
it's blue ocean breeze by Krylon
(i'm a little surprised it stuck because it was only about 25 degrees in my paint studio, I mean, basement)
(don't tell the landlord)
and the topiary stand, since is was just begging to be painted...
and because I learned 3 things in the 1 interior design class I took at Ricks College,
1 being I didn't want to major in interior design, 2 being you need to group things in 3 or more odd numbered groupings,
I just had to paint 1 of the 19 tin stars floating around our house :)
(the 3rd thing being, interior design majors are snobs and their male LDS professors are suprisingly flambouyant, at least the 1 I had was)
{ I don't really have 19 tin stars, without getting up I can only see 6 :) I know there are more though}

I love that blue with my red and white stuff

and this girl, whose blog I just love, and just lives up the mountain from me, but I haven't met in real life, or blog life for that matter, made a quilt for the Nie Auction tonight, in this color scheme... anyone want to win it for me??

Enhanced Diva-licious-ness

Remember this photo?

Check it out now!

Huh?! Huh?! Pretty cool right?!

Our friend Bethany over at Elegant Word Art by Bethany is a pro with the digital scrapping and has her own line of word art and digital scrapbooking stuff. (I'm so lame I don't even know the real name for it Sorry Bethany!) Anyway, you should take a looky at her work and leave her some love. Maybe pick yourself up something real nice. Her word art can possibly be made into vinyls too. Let me help you help me help the home business moms out there. As the Nester says, buy from real people, not robots! Except just pretend that I'm the only one you know with a vinyl business, ok thanks :) Our website is back up and running again too!

Baking in this Heat!

So yesterday afternoon it was about 98 degrees, and not the boy band from back in the day. We got home from doing some thing, looking for some thing at thrift stores for a project I want to make but not reveal yet :) The babies were asleep from the long car ride so I took a moment to heat up the house a little extra and bake up some treats. And since not much has been going on I thought I would post the recipes for ya so you can cook just like me! Because that is the cool thing to do. SO 1st I made a Quiche, which I have to call "Breakfast Casserole" if I want anyone to eat it around here. It's from A Taste of Home Cooking School Cookbook. I went with my Mom, Gena and Stephanie to a show about 2 years ago and this was 1 of the recipes they made. It is soo good! Jennalee was here visiting from TX last night and she and her little cutie Megan tried it and liked it too.
Here goes:
1 pkg (12 oz) Breakfast Sausage patties or links
1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms (I used canned this time)
1/4 cup chopped onions ( I just used a whole small onion)
1/4 cup chopped sweet red pepper (I left out the peppers this time)
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
3 oz of cream cheese, softened
4 eggs
1/3 cup half and half cream
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese> I used colby jack for the cheeses
1 cup shredded monterey jack cheese
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
dash ground nutmeg - I just realized I used 1/4 tsp (too much)
1 unbaked pastry shell- Pie crust
Cook sausage, chopping into small pieces for 3 minutes
Add the mushrooms, onions and peppers.
Cook and stir 5 minutes longer or until sausage is cooked through and
vegies are tender. Drain well.
In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
Gradually beat in eggs and cream. Stir in the cheeses, salt pepper, nutmeg and the sausage mix.
Pour into pie crust.
Bake uncovered at 350* for 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
Yummy!
I also made an old family secret recipe.
If you saw that episode of "Friends" then you know what I'm talking about :)
This is all that was left at bedtime and there were only 1 left this morning.
If you want the full recipe or don't know what episode of "Friends" I'm talking about, leave a comment!
Tonight I am trying a recipe I found on this girl's super cute blog I just found. I'll let you know how it turns out. I think I've seen it before.

A cute, cheap gift

The boys went to a birthday party and this is the gift I came up with. Believe me! I surprised myself with how cute I think it turned out :) I got the idea from this post by the Nester, whose blog I LOVE!It's just a few things from the dollar store with a cute homemade tag. I'm sure the 4 yr old recipient could care less, but like I told Jim, I just want his mom to think I'm cool and crafty :)

Last Day of School

That's right! It's officially Summer Vacation at our house! I don't know who's more excited Jake or me. No alarm clocks for 2 and a half months is making me very happy. Now if I can just fill up our days with fun and frolic and keep the I'm Bored Monster out of here.

Jake after the 1 1/2 hr last day of school.

Also, *note* He lost his top tooth last night at Walmart.

Here's what I made for his teachers. Another cute idea from EverythingPink.

What are you doing this summer to keep the kids entertained?

OK Admit it!

So I just happened to catch the NEW "New Kids on the Block" on the TODAY show today. Kelly did you see them? I felt a little strange watching these 40 yr old guys singing their hits when I know that ol' Joey McIntire is a big "born again-er" and bashes Mormons, and ol' Donny Wahlberg was the psycho-killer in that "I see dead people" movie that I can never remember the name of. They seemed a little uncomfortable with the dance moves and Jordan had sunglasses on, to hide his age I'm guessing. They all had really good skin for their age though! Make-up works wonders :) I never was a fan of the NKOTB though so that may sway my feelings now. They were big during High School when I was a BIG hip-hop, rap, r&b fan. I know! Don't laugh! :) I have to go see if they are going to perform again, maybe something new?? If I can get Brooke to turn off the Yo Gabba for a minute. Maybe that will change my opinion!
